shimano track chain

What are the numbers in a string of tracks / cog on the dimenisions?

I've seen sizes track (fixed gear) gear that say use a 1 / 2 "x 3 / 32" and 1 / 2 "x 1 / 8". What do these numbers mean? Or even simpler, is a standard Shimano 10spd chain setting any of these? I'm trying to convert my triathlon bike to a fixed rate for a test of time. Ive got everything else, but a teeth and perhaps a chain, if I buy one. Any help is appreciated.

The numbers we're seeing is the pitch (the distance between the bolts roller) and width (from inside the plates). 1 / 2 "x 1 / 8" is a standard width for the track and BMX riders. All modern systems use diverter 1 / 2 "x3/32", although the exterior width varies depending on the number of gears. If you are using your speed of 10 rods, get a 3 / 32 "rack and a price of 7 or 8 speed chain. You can use a 10-speed chain, but are of a pain to break and come together again to change the length and you can get a 7-speed chain for the money not much more than a couple of replacement 10-pin high speed.
