Used Bike buying advice please?

The bike is a Jamis Durango sport that the owner says is 7 or 8 years old. The bike is in good condition and has Shimano failure but has no front suspension. He claims the bike was $ 600 again and he can not take a penny less than 130 dollars (CDN) for the bike. What I know is if the bike is good for trail riding despite his lack of front suspension? And if the evaluation of this $ 600 bike is really new brand? I found photos of bicycles Jamis Durango from the time period stating that it is but all have front suspension. Is wrong on the model year was it made? And if so, is 130 too? Thank you.

Hey, isn't that much suspension. I used to ride hard all paths time before the suspension came … I managed well. That said … The front suspension is a convenience that is nice and allows for greater stability, especially on the rocks trails (or roads with potholes). But I prefer to have a rigid fork suspension or cheap old fork. They can be heavy and can burst on you if you ride hard. Shimano Just because it doesn't mean it is good. Shimano is good, but keep in mind that producing a full line of products and they range in quality of really cheap for high performance. Find the line of actual models of the XT components … Relief … .. so that's what matters … not just the fact that it is Shimano. As what they cost back then and what it's worth now … not too important. Do not listen to what anyone says, especially when it is trying to sell something. Check out the components of … gears, levers, cranks, tires, etc … Check the weight of the bike, despite a couple of bikes before hand to get an idea of various weights. Personally, by a $ 130 I would like to see some decent components on the bike, especially without the front suspension. Like anything else … because something worthwhile x amount of $ $ 8 years doesn't mean it is something worth now. If you're still safe to walk on it. Not sure on the street and back, but try to work hard up if possible. If mounted, the changes smoothly and that you like, then maybe. Pressing the crankset and pedals and see if there's anything funny noise and movement. Check all components for cracks, rust, make sure everything works as it should. If there is something you can wear anything that happens to drop the price. Personally, I would pass unless the parties are decent … and even that is 7 or 8 years old.
