shimano 105 crankset compact

upgrade to compact crank?

I have a '02 Lemond road bike with a 105 BB with Shimano Ultegra cranks one 53/39. I'm thinking switching to a Shimano compact crank. Outside the desired changes, the new BB feel harder? Additionally, this configuration was shed much weight in comparison with my current setup?

You go to a Shimano compact crank and a BB yet again. There will be much lighter, if any difference at all. You did not mention the BB.
