Which of these bikes is better for normal road riding?

My options are a runner Cliff Magna 88 MTN bike for $ 90 or 26 "Schwinn Ranger Mountain Bike for $ 100. Both are described as "like new" condition.

Both of the bikes at retail prices around request. If you're limited by budget constraints and are set to get a department store bike, then buy it again. Then bring to a bike shop and spend another $ 50 to have it checked over and tuned. Not only are these bikes made of inferior materials and processes, but are assembled by people who have no idea of what they are doing. If the money can go far and the budget for the purchase of a bicycle shop, please do so. Maybe at least visit a bike shop before decide on a bicycle. Let show you some things, and explain what they offer. Then you have made at least an informed decision and not a blind error.
