What is the quality of the gear lever on my bike?

I have a bike Cannondale Comfort 5 and wondered about the quality of some of the lever changes of grip. It's a Shimano SL-RS41 Revo Twist. I have not been overly impressed by it, but I like the idea of a change of grip. I wonder if most of my problems could be solved by adjusting the deraileurs to make it easier displacement. What is seen as a gearshift grip and would fit an 8 speed?

NOTE TO BEN: The difference between Shimano and SRAM is not the space between the teeth which is the amount of cable pull levers. If you use levers SRAM, Shimano derailleurs (or vice versa) there will be no problems. That said, GripShift makes a Shimano compatible shifter, but you have to specify it. Now the question … I think she just has a good fit. You should not have to touch the gears, but the elimination of the slack of the cables would be a start. Basta to change the bike to 1 on the front and 8 on the back, and then use the barrel adjusters on the shifter and / or Change of eliminating cable slack.
